For over three decades, St. James Episcopal Church has been a cornerstone of support for Los Angeles’ underserved community. They have provided food, shelter, and a safe space for individuals, many of whom have faced systemic inequities and have developed a distrust of the medical community due to past experiences. It’s within this context that we had the privilege of hosting our first Louie’s Clinic at St. James.

While we provided essential services such as checking blood sugars, blood pressures, and offering referrals to community clinics, the most significant part of today’s clinic was the opportunity to simply be present. By showing up and offering support, we helped create a space for reconnection, where relationships could begin to heal. This is about more than just medical care—it’s about mending bridges and fostering trust, one step at a time. At ITPC, we believe in the power of community and compassion, and today was a reminder of how important it is to meet people where they are, both physically and emotionally.
